RSL!

Here is a picture of a Real Salt Lake Soccer game Mike and I went to a few weeks ago! We ran into Lo and a few other people! Thank heavens we thought to bring that blanket! It was FREEZING! Oh well, David Beckham was there--making it allll worth it. (Also, I missed a goal because they were showing JIMMER on the screen! Ugh. Jimmer.)

The Final Countdown

Wow! The weeks seem to be flying by like crazy--wasn't it just yesterday that I updated my blog? Apparently it was like 19 yesterdays ago...SO.

Where to start?!

General Conference/Birthday weekend was a blast! I kicked off the weekend by heading to Orem/Provo to hang out with Chelsea for a few hours! She had to be somewhere at like 5, and Mike and I were going to head to Salt Lake around 6--so it worked out perfect! Chelsea is the bomb. I SHOULD have known that trying to get to American Fork around 5 from Provo would be a complete joke! Utah County traffic + Utah drivers is like getting punk'd every day. Hate. it.

After like a 45 minute drive to AF (which usually only takes 15..), and waiting for Mike to get back from some errands, we FINALLY headed up to Salt Lake! We were meeting up with Laura/Derek and Emily! Trying to find a parking spot once we hit downtown SLC was A DISASTER! What on earth were we thinking to drive up there when there was a Lakers/Jazz game and General Conference the next day? Bad idea. (It was really okay though, Mike and I had a fun time in the car, taking turns laughing about the whole night in between bouts of insane frustration!) Luckily, they ordered food for us so by the time we got there, it was waiting! :)

Then, the next morning we were able to go to the Saturday morning session of G.C. I was HOT on the prowl for my BFF Kathy Hale, serving in Ogden right now! She told me where she was sitting in a letter I got earlier that week.

Hannah and Brenton came with us to conference! (SO much fun, by the way!) After saving a spot down in front, Mike and I hiked to the top to wait for Kathy! There was NO sign her for like 25 minutes! If Elders were headed to the same section Kathy was supposed to be sitting, we would periodically ask them where they were serving. One Elder I happened to ask said, "I'm from the Salt Lake South mission--who are you looking for?" I said, "Oh, my friend Kathy Hale--but she's in the Ogden mission!", and he said, "Oh yeah! I know Sister Hale! She's on her way up right now!" GAH! Now we HAD to wait. After about 2 more minutes, she finally appeared around the corner!!!!! I practically shoved everyone out of my way and ran through the crowd (like the movies..you know) and instantly started bawling. Who knew I missed her so much? Oh wait, I do. I miss her like crazy.

We chatted for what felt like 20 seconds, then that was it! Here is a picture of us! (with me crying in it. What's with me and all the tears?) She looks fantastic, and is doing so well! It had been like 6 or 7 months since I'd seen her. Best. Birthday. Morning. Ever.

After the session was over, we headed to Bajio (Mike and I), and Panda (Hannah and Brenton). They were right next to each other, so we got to choose! It was delicious. H&B headed home, and ended up having to stay there, but April and another friend came over for the first bit of the second session! So fun to see friends.

When that was all over, my mom, Mike and I headed to Bluffdale! My dad and brother Matt were going to meet up with Mike to go to Preisthood at our new ward house/stake center--while my mom and I went shopping! (Birthday shopping is the best, huh?) When they were all done, we met back up at our apartment for pizza/presents/party/etc. Here are some pictures of the big night!!!!! (My mom was there...she just didn't make it into any of the pictures)

Matt is excited about something, I guess!

The boys surprised me and brought up two of the chairs that will go in our apartment! That was really fun--and I don't know if my dad forgot, but I actually HATE cats. Why he would buy me a giant cat balloon is beyond me. I guess it's the thought that counts!

Matt again. Really excited. Again.

Mike and I in the only furniture in the apartment! We'll definitely be needing slip covers!

27 days, guys. 27 days.

Bluff what?

This just in: We found an apartment!

It was kind of crazy how it all happened--but after looking at 12 different places, we finally made a decision! I might add that it was a quick-spur-of-the-moment decision--but since we'd already done so much searching/comparing, it wasn't as scary as it may sound.

We singed for an apartment in Bluffdale! (what? who would have thought?) It's right off the IKEA exit, and only 2 or so minutes down Bangerter Highway. I never thought I'd live off Bangerter Highway. Growing up, anything west of I-15 was no man's land, and it always creeped me out. So, not only am I living west of the freeway, but we're also in the Prison City! Party with the convicts! (I don't know why I capitalized Prison City..just makes it look cooler? terrifying? oh great.)

It all started a few weeks ago when my mom, Mike and I went driving around to apartments on Sunday using the Apartment Guide (found in our local grocery store. yay). My mom came across the ad for "The Bluffs" (oh, that's the name of the apartments by the way)...but we never stopped by!

Then, yesterday, I was headed up to tutor and it turns out my student wasn't there. Having some extra time, I decided to call the people doing our invitations to see when they'd be finished. She told me they needed to get more paper for our numbers, but asked if I'd like to stop by and see one last proof before they were started. Sure! They happen to live up the street from The Bluffs, and so after I was finished there, I thought "I should just stop by and see them, just for the heck of it". (Mind you I got SO sick last weekend from stressing myself out about finding a place, it was sort of crazy that I'd put myself through it after finally recovering)

So, while I was waiting at the light to cross over Bangerter Highway, I called the apartments and they said they could show me around! Before I knew it, I was looking in the 2 bed/1 bath apartment that I thought would be perfect for me and Mike! We had come up with a list of things we wanted/felt were important, and others that didn't matter so much! One of the debates we'd have was looking for a place in Utah County or Salt Lake--and trying to find the middle ground for his work in AF and school at the U for me.

The location is about 15 minutes from TRAX, and about 20 minutes for him to work! Not too bad! We were able to sign a year lease--which should work out great. It's not too far from my mom's, but far enough away to start a new adventure.

Here are some pictures of The Bluffs. Pretty cool, huh?

One big item off the list! I think I woke up decorating the place in my head. So fun.

Latest Loves.

I absolutely LOVE these little treasures. I know there are LOTS of ways to get these things...and they may be too artsy/decorative to be functional--but who cares? These items makes the 22nd birthday list.

Measuring Cups. I saw a few variations of these in the store, but like this design the best.

Measuring Spoons. For a perfect dash of delicious.

Salt N' Pepper. These will go great with the Fiesta plates from Macy's (crossing fingers about those, too!)

Tea and Toast Butter Dish. I'll take it just for the name! Seriously. Adorable.

Volcano. Best. Candle. Ever. I'll take 5 of them. (which would be seriously fine, okay? because it comes in all these jars! no one would ever know.)

I guess they call them birthday wishes for a reason.

Real. and Real Scary

First. Two things

Wait, I don't know how many things.

But, what I do know is that yesterday was an adventure.

A Real and a real scary one.

Me and this guy, you may remember..Mike? Yeah. Him. The party-er. (What?)
We went to a REAL SALT LAKE SOCCER GAME! It was SO much fun. The Rio Tinto stadium is small--but still big enough for a party. I'm really excited because we have tickets to next week's game against LA GALAXY. And you may remember this guy

...yeah.. DAVID BECKHAM? He'll be there. And hopefully her.

ANYWAYS! After the game (or I should say before it ended so we could beat the crowd) Mike and I headed back to our car! We parked in Sandy and took Trax a few blocks north and walked. So, obviously so we had to take Trax back to the parking lot to get to our car! On our way to the car, a boy (who looked like a teenager) turned around and asked us if we knew when the next Utah Valley bus would come.

Feeling his pain (since I've MISSED that bus..bad night), I told him that the last one had just left and PROCEEDED TO OFFER HIM A RIDE?! (Oh, at the time this seemed totally okay to me. AND legit. Like, I have missed that bus and was SO sad I was stranded--I felt for this guy!) So, without realizing how reluctant Mike was, we proceeded to give him a ride.

He proceeded to tell his whole life story--I'm not sure how much I ACTUALLY believe. He had apparently been given up to foster/adoptive homes when he was 12. He was the oldest of his 12 siblings from his biological parents. There were apparently 3 sets of triplets (is that normal) and one set of twins. They were all given up--and placed in various homes around the state minus two of the siblings who are in New York with his mom's aunt. His mom is a drug dealer/hooker lady that asks him for money, and his dad works as a mechanic and tatoo artist. He still has contact with his parents, even though he was officially adopted by a family in Lehi a year ago. The twin siblings he has apparently have cancer and are living in Logan, and he himself has ADHD and Manic Depression. He is a 'super senior' at Lehi High school. He wants to go to Weber State College for web design and can 'create a website in an hour and type 200 words per minute'. Oh, and he was baptized into the church when he was 14 when his foster mother who was jewish found the Book of Mormon and fell in love with it.

Um. What.

After Mike dropped him off he turned to me and said "DON'T EVER EVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" AH! I felt SO stupid. I am TOTALLY naive to things like this. I wouldn't just pick up any old stranger--especially if I was alone or whatever, but I didn't realize until last night how much I really DON'T worry about that maybe I should.

Mike is ALWAYS so good at things like locking car/house doors, shutting things tight, zip locking bags closed, tighening water bottles, keep track of his stuff (namely wallet, watch, chapstick and keys), etc. And. I am not. I mention THOSE things because it's that kind of personality that makes him VERY attentive to details--what's going on--who is doing what--where things are, etc. AND he's super careful!

I am the type that might not screw the cap on the toothpaste tight enough, or don't reseal the bag all the way, or forget where I put my things and have the attitude of "Ooooh, it's oookaaaay! No worries. Oops! Sorry" blah blah blah. And it's THAT kind of attitude that will get me down rape alley because I wanted to help a stupid stray cat (ew, bad example. I hate cats.)

Moral of the story? I needed that wake up call. Pay attention, Annie! Be better (like Mike) and honestly? I will NEVER do that again. Real Scary.

Shoot, I gotta go find my keys to run somewhere....

Bye!

I should be studying...but...I am too busy looking for pictures of piles of paper so I can blog about avoiding my actual pile of paper.

Reading Methods 1 Mid-Term tomorrow? Huh? Did someone say something?

So much to be thankful for..

He made me a pie for Pi Day.

Love him.

INSTANT BELIEBER.

Never. Say. Never.

*I am a little bit...uh...ashamed to admit that I actually broke down and saw this movie.
What I'm even more ashamed to admit is that first sentence is an absolute lie.

Finding out that ChoLo was going to see it at 10 pm tonight was the best. news. of. my. week.
It might ruin any credibility I've ever had with anyone--but it doesn't matter.
It. Was. Worth. It.
All 2 hours.

Flying low

Hey. It's been a few weeks. Imagine that?!

A few of the latest things...
1. Registering for goodies at Target is WAY underrated.
2. Marriage in T-minus 2 months. WHAT.
3. Finding new apartments is FUN and scary.
4. Updating my blog in class is more fun than actually paying attention. OOPS! (It might be a good idea for the teacher to NOT start the discussion by saying, "What we're going over tonight will not be on the test..."..I'm outta there!)
5. I am finding that doing 50+ lunges makes me sore the next day...
6. Mario Kart WFC is the best. And watching Mike play Mario Kart WFC is hilarious. Don't get in his way.
7. For as much as I miss work, and all the students at ATEC, I love having time to get life accomplished. Feels good.

Now, if only we could get the plumber to fix our sink so we're not doing dishes in the bathroom anymore?

Happy.

Here's for some joy:

Maybe pigs can fly...

Have you ever wanted to love someone so much but because of what they do it makes it impossible?

I'm in a rut...a terrible rut.

My biggest hope is that we can all learn to love those that are rather unlovable--and in return they might find it in themselves to love who they are. Because in the end, it's the non-loving of themselves that make it impossible to show them how you care.

I wish there was an easy solution. But only time has the answers. Stay strong.

2.09.2011

Private at last.

I decided to make my blog private. I just...needed to do it. I want to be able to KNOW who is reading what I write--and really...I just want the people I love the most to know what's going on...not any other posers out there just to get the scoop without the work. SO.

On an high note--there is a Juicy Couture purse to DIE for. I want it and need it. Admire it here. However, I don't believe I'll be buying it full price any time soon. Maybe if I win the lottery? On a less expensive note (relatively), I would also like to own this! Still, 30 bucks for a head band is NOT worth it...but oh..the dreams. Valentines day is close--maybe Mike will DELIVER! (Ha, JK. A night in playing Mario Kart is good enough for me!)

Time is flying by like crazy. As if it were a miracle, I'm actually getting straight A's right now, despite the crazy schedule. I hope it stays--along with other goals I have. It would be the first time I'd ever get a 4.0. I'd like to pull that off during the semester that I'm planning my wedding AND working :) (Oooh, that was boarder-line too much gloating...sorry.)

What's YOUR update?

Wow. Making this private makes me feel FREE.

2.01.2011

Seriously..

Well, hey! 3 months ago I was feeling bad for not having written for a month...and now..I feel bad for not writing for 3...? Maybe I won't post for 6 months after this and start a pattern, huh? It wouldn't surprise me.

For those of you that know me, or (like I say every time) even READ this, will have known that a lot has happened in the past few months! November probably finished with a bang..I can't remember. December was all a blur, and January has come and gone like that!

Lets recap some major highlights!

ENGAGED! (Entire story to follow. It was quite epic.)

Christmas with the Briney's! (My first away from home! I only felt a little homesick on Christmas Eve...but hey, I was bound to be a part from my family over the holidays sometime!) Seriously, though. It was 2 weeks of partying/games/good food and good times. Would do it all again in a heart beat. ;)

New Years! 2011 is gonna be big. (You wanna know why? I found a $100 dollar bill in a grocery store parking lot in California New Years Eve day, that why.)

School started at the U. In addition to my classes, there are other Salt Lake treasures I've discovered! They include (but aren't limited to): Rowdy students, drugs, alcohol, long beards, boys in skirts, UTA drama and TRAX adventures, hilarious teachers and the alleged "Jugalo" which I still have yet to spot.

*Side Note: "Jugalos" are defined as white-trash-ish men dressed in super baggy clothes that paint their faces like clowns. Said to usually hang out by the library. This description was offered by Driggs. (I was also deliriously tired when he told me about them, so I may be just describing my worst nightmare..just..skip this part)

My full time job at ATEC moved to part time...which, with all the craziness, is proving to be tricky. I was able to go part time with another friend at work(so we share one full contract), but there are definitely days where I wish I could stay home and sleep or do homework. (Who am I kidding? I'd rule both those options out and play Mario Kart WFC against Japan all day.)

Wedding plans, wedding shows and more wedding. BLEH! For all the fun it has been (and it really has), I am definitely glad that I actually spent one Saturday in January NOT going to bridal shows! That would probably make '3 of us' as I'm sure my Mom and Mike feel the same way!

But really, thanks to caring and generous parents, we've been able to book a lot of fun things! A hot pink photo booth, a delicious candy buffet, an awesome florist, a wonderful husband/wife duo for pictures/video, an amazing reception center, a yummy luncheon at the Joseph Smith Building, sexy live jazz music...etc. 95 days!

Well, I know there is more I could write--but I'm all blogged out. I had a mishap on Trax tonight. Funny now, not funny at the time. Gotta love those! More on that, and all of the above later!

Peace.
